Elizabeth Mary McCall Beach W/Family

I received this same picture from Bruce Dillinger, indicating that pictures were developed in duplicate and passed from sister to sister. Left to Right: Emma Beach Carlyle, Dr. William Beach, Henrietta Beach Anderson. Seated: Elizabeth Mary McCall Beach.

According to the Mansfield News Journal, 23May1936, Henrietta Beach Anderson died in Portland, Oregon. She is listed as a "former Shelby resident", so it is possible that she had moved to Oregon to be close to her sister, Emma Beach Carlyle. By 1936 she'd had a tough few years. I'm going from memory here, but I believe her daughter-in-law, wife of Henrietta's son Ralph Anderson, was killed sometime around 1934. A year later Ralph died in a car accident. Henrietta may simply have fled out west to get away from it all.

A Day At The Beach(s)

Michael simply states that this (below left) is the Mills family visiting the Beach family. He believes the bearded gentleman in the upper right may be his GGGrandfather Needham. Any guesswork as to who is in the picture is contingent on the "when" and "where" the picture was taken. We don't have a good feel for either. However, the only picture we have of Hugh Percy, the Sod Hut picture, taken ca 1887, shows that he was totally bald. I don't see any totally bald men in this picture, so I don't believe GGrandfather Beach is in it. I suspect, then, that it was taken after his death in 1900.

Not A Clue

I shouldn't say "Not a clue". That very well could be Lucinda Stark Mills...but I'm really stretching it on that guess.
