Hi

I am sending this along. You may find it interesting because of the Pension application by Mary Gilstrap Pollard Johnson and Isaac G. Pollard info. I have added more to this and will pass it along as I locate. I have copies of the Pension and the Obit for Isaac G. Pollard. I may duplicate some of this as I added and made some corrections.

Mary Elizabeth (Pollard) Reed may have been the widow of J.P. Reed who is buried at the Dooley Cemetery. His tombstone has no dates but indicates he was a veteran of the 1st Arkansas Cavalry, Company A. A Joseph P. Reed enlisted 10 May 1862 at Crawford County, Arkansas in Company A, 1st Arkansas Cavalry, USA. His age was given as 18 years, born in Meigs County, Tennessee. Joseph P. Reed applied for an invalid pension in 1885 and his widow later applied for a pension on his service. I do not have access to this pension application, but a copy of it should provide a great deal of information to descendants. A Joseph P. Reed homesteaded land in the Dooley community in 1891.

Mary Reed had given birth to ten children of whom seven were living at the time of this census in 1900. I have identified only six of them:

1  William C. Reed, born September 1871 in Arkansas. He married Emma Viania Barker in 1893. Please see Dwelling #89/101 of this series for his family.

2  Mary "Edna" Elizabeth Emilene Reed, born 1 April 1878 in Arkansas. She married John Vander Barker in 1895. Please see Dwelling #100/113 of this series for her family.

3  Walter O. Reed, born April 1882 in Arkansas. He married Drucilla Ford on 13 November 1904 in Polk County (Polk County Marriage Book G, page 353.) In 1931 he was living at Stratford, Oklahoma.

4  Bertram W. Reed, born January 1885 in Arkansas. He married first Delila Walls on 19 January 1903 (Book C, page 178.) He married second Ada McGee. His family is found on the 1920 Seminole County, Oklahoma census at Konawa

Township, with a daughter Pearl and four sons, Vern, Lon, Charles and Fred. At the time of his mother's death in 1931 he was still living at Konawa.

5  John P. Reed, born January 1888 in Arkansas. He is listed on the 1920 census of Seminole County, Oklahoma at Sasakwa Township as a widower, with children Mary A., Grover S., Susan E., Rose M. and Daisy. His widowed mother, Mary E. Reed, was living with him at that time.

6  Daisy P. Reed, born July 1890 in Arkansas. She married Frank J., son of Orville Joiner and Ann (Mooney) Holleman on 7 October 1906 (Book C, page 473.) They are on the 1910 census at Parks with two sons, one-year-old Jessie and four-month-old Roy. Daisy's mother, Mary E. Reed, was living with them. In 1931 Daisy Holleman was living at Vamoosa, Oklahoma.

Mary E. Reed died in June 1931 in Oklahoma. Her obituary was published in the 4 June 1931 issue of The Konawa Leader: "Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Reed, age 85 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.J. Hallerman [sic] in Vamoosa, Wednesday night at 8 o'clock. Rev. W.O. Bucy, pastor of the First Methodist church will conduct the funeral services this afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be made in the Konawa cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Reed are 6 children. W.C. Reed of Mena, Ark; W.O. Reed of Stratford; Bert Reed and J.P. Reed of Konawa; Mrs. Barker of Sasakwa, and Mrs. Hallerman of Vamoosa."
