NOTE: I received the following correction from Rae Trine:

Tim..this "Peter" Trine is actually Peter Jr. and Catherine Wendling's (Peter Jr. son of Peter Sr. and Rosina) son David B. Trein (Trine) b. 10 Mar 1832. He is listed in the 1860 census as well, but goes by his real name David B. (not Peter), married to Rebecca Kitch with son William. See below: I cut and pasted the census info.

Now why he is listed as "Peter" Trine in the 1870 census is a mystery. The only thing I can think of is that it is an enumerator mistake and maybe they called him Junior or something. Who knows. But the 1870 "Peter" Trine is actually David B. Trine, son of Peter Jr. and Catherine Wendling. Hope this helps.

I have not found any indication that Peter & Catherine Trine had a son Peter, so I don't know who this is. Our 4th great grandfather Peter Trein was married twice. He had two sons by his first wife, Mary Ellen Klotz. Our 4th great grandmother Rosina Matzellin Trein was his second wife. Peter & Rosina Matzellin Trein had one child: Peter Trine, our 3rd. great grandfather listed above. Perhaps this Peter Trine was born of one of those two sons of Peter & Mary Ellen Klotz Trein and named after his grandfather.

NOTE: Dunno if this is supposed to be "Billig" or not. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.
